Remington 870 & 1100
I like working on shotguns, especially the Remington 870 and 1100 models. Recently after a short bit of experimenting I came up with a retrofit for the ugly ghost ring setup that Remington put on their 870 and 1100/1187 Police models.
From this
I start off by removing the rear sight then milling the wings off the receiver( I found milling to be easier due to the high temp solder Remington uses) Then I fit a filler plate and silver solder it to the receiver. For the finishing touch I go ahead and mill the groove into the filler plate to match the factory groove (if present) then it's out for refinish
Finished product
If Parkerizing is chosen for the refinish then there will be a visible seam. If a applied finish is chosen then the seam will not be seen
